Note
Do you wish you were on that N17?
Stone walls
And the grasses green
Traveling with just my thoughts
And dreams
NOW AS I TUMBLE DOWN HIGHWAYS
OR FILTHY OVERCROWDED TRAINS
THERES NO ONE TO TALK TO IN TRANSIT
SO I SIT THERE AND DAYDREAM IN VAIN
genuinely I love you anon this song is such a banger
unlocked core memories of going up to matches in Croker as a kid (hon the kingdom💚💛)
urging everyone to listen to it asap

Whiskey in the Jar
A modern retelling of the plot of the folk song set in Los Angeles in 1998. The culmination of the film sees Metallica recording the titular song.

"The Wearing of the Green" is a traditional Irish folksong that dates back to the Irish Rebellion of 1798, when the Irish rose up against the British. At that time, wearing green clothing or shamrocks was considered a rebellious act in and of itself, potentially even punishable by death.

Character What-ifs themes
While writing about my characters or working on chapters for RFR, sometimes I like listening to fitting music for them.
For Eightenate/the Earthenkind/the looming fjords leading into the Kingdom of Caldera from the sea:

Rán, Norse Goddess of the Sea ~Something I just learn today!
I like how this song starts out so innocent with a building tension. The rise and fall of the music (I don't know how to describe it, but you'll know listening to it) sounds like waves rising and crashing.
For Gwenny/his lover back in the abbey in Longormore/their love and eventual heartbreak:
youtube
youtube
Also, info on Suil A Run's lyrics ~interesting read!
First version by Celtic Woman - energetic, urgent, upbeat - perhaps a happier time
Second version By The University of Birmingham Brass Band - mourning, loss, a hint of determination, quietness
Some little hints on Gwenny's backstory (wip) lol

Saying this as an Irish person since the new Hozier album just came out and there are lyrics in Irish; it’s Irish or Gaeilge (pronounced “gwhale-ga” or “gale-ga” depending on region), not Gaelic or Celtic or any other name people come up with.
It’s just a normal language that people speak in their everyday life. We learn it in school in the republic. People like myself are bilingual in Irish and English. It’s not a “fairy aesthetic cottage core leprechaun” language.
Please respect it. Our language is a touchy subject seen as how England tried to erase it by forcing English on us and severely punishing those who spoke Irish.
At the same time that does NOT mean it is a dead language. Our (in the republic) road and safety signs are in both Irish and English, same with legal documents. Our politicians speak it, and we are trying to preserve the language!
Anyways enjoy the album!

🎶 Well in the bog there was Ingo,
A rare Ingo and a rattlin' Ingo,
And an Ingo in the bog,
And the bog down in the valley-o. 🎵

Ingo shouldn't be out in the cranberry bog.

Irish-uwufication is so fucking weird anyway but like people act like Hozier - who writes primarily blues songs about politics, books and music he finds interesting, and having sex with hot women he picks up in bars - is just a nature man is so weird. Like you have Americans saying he is a bog man, he only writes acoustic songs about chaste love and nature. He lives in the woods and doesn’t interact with society at all. He is made of trees and fairies because that’s what Ireland is.
